Adopted as a puppy, poor Aya has recently had to cope with the death of her owner and being taken out of her comfort zone into kennels ,as her remaining owner, who is disabled , could sadly not manage to keep her. She has had a very difficult time and has not found it easy to cope with these radical changes having been in a loving home for the first 5 years of her life.. She has now settled in to her routine and loves her weekly walks out with our volunteers and, of course her cuddles. She is still shy with new people. She needs someone to give her a second chance and help her to continue to rebuild her confidence with patience and consistency.
Sadly Aya has become almost obsessed with the kennel manager, she is at her happiest when she has her all to herself. She is not happy to share her with other people or other dogs. All the time she can see the kennel manager talking to other people or spending time with the other dogs, Aya will show her disapproval by constantly barking. If she can't see the kennel manager she is fine. The sooner we can move Aya from kennels the better. She needs someone with time, understanding and patience who can teach her relationship boundaries. She is the most loving little dog. We would suggest that any foster or adopter visit Aya at the kennels to slowly gain her trust and start to build a healthy relationship.
